RING,RING, WHERE IS THAT PHONE?
A few years ago, my daughter and son-in-law gave me a Cordless phone for Christmas. It came with a base which is an answering machine, and plugs into an outlet for charging.
Yesterday when the phone rang, I discovered it's absence
from the base in the Dining room. After hanging up from talking to my friend, I began my search for it.
Remote controls for the TV & VCR have a way of getting misplaced in most households in America. I have hunted for them numerous times, but this was was the first time I have had to do an exstensive search for my cordless phone.
I looked in every room in the house, concentrating mostly on the living room.. Since this prooved futile, there was only one thing to do. I called my friend & asked her to call me back. She knew that the answereing machine would come on after so many rings, so she let the phone ring several times, hung up & repeated the process.
Ring, ring, I'm getting closer.
Ring, ring, it's coming from the Living room where I had previously searched.
Ring, ring the sound was getting louder.
Ring , ring, it's coming from the couch.
Aha there it is behind a cushion.
" Found it I gleefully told my friend, whereapon the phone went dead after a warning beep. I hapily replaced it to be charged &
called my friend on my other phone.
Little did Alexander Graham Bell realize, that one day his invention would evolve into an instrument that would enable this little old lady track down her phone with it's ability to ring .

Cute post, Mom!
And I think Bell would also be amazed at our cell phones...it's all truly amazing. And to think you've seen so many technological advances since you were a little girl. Even someone my age...just re-watching a movie from the 80's, it now suddenly seems so old when you see their giant mobile phones! :)
Your so right. My friend has said that a cell phone almost becomes obsolete the minute you buy it because they keep coming up with new features for them.
Our cordless has a button you can push on the base that makes the receiver beep so you can track it down. We never lose it though because we always leave it on the bar by the "real" phone.
This is funny! Once I was talking to my sister while cooking in the kitchen. Later that evening the phone rang but we couldn't find it . . . we finally tracked it to one of the kitchen cupboards!!
Enjoyable blog here!
I LOVE my cordless phone for exactly the same reason you do! I can also page mine to help me find it...

I don't know how mothers used to keep up with their kids before the cordless phone was invented.

Comming over from Tammy's
Thanks to all who came calling & left Happy Birthday wishes. My wonderful sweet daughter is a bit predjudiced, She is & has always been my best friend & I feel that the Lord truly blessed me with such a caring & wonderful answer to my prayers. I waited 5 years for her, but she was worth the wait, & then she provided me with two little minitures of herself who also love the Lord & are very caring.
I'm a friend of Tammy's and I'm here to wish you a wonderful birthday, Ruthie.
(My mother-in-law lost her cordless phone all the time. I found it in the oddest places, including on top of her toilet once. :-)

But, I'm back and wishing you a very happy birthday -- albeit belated.
I can't wait to come back and catch up on your wonderful musings and memories. :)
Take care...
